Launched mid 1998 fijivillage.com was created as a news portal site aimed at Fiji people living overseas.

The aim of the site has always been to re package information gathered by Communications Fiji Ltd's (CFM) news teams and radio stations and deliver it to an overseas audience of home-sick ex Fiji people.

In 2002 the site became subscriber based, the only one of its kind in Fiji, and now boasts over 1300 regular subscribers. The site now combines free access news pages with subscriber only services. Well over 10,000 unique vistors access the site on a daily basis and this can climb dramatically in times of crisis or for that matter celebration!

In addition to constant news updates, the site streams CFM's 5 radio stations LIVE plus features a wide range of recorded radio programs particularly from VITI FM and Navtarang.

The site is managed jointly by CFM's News Director, Vijay Narayan, who is responsible for content and Charles Taylor who manages revenue.
